Posts

As life has been filled with a ton of busy nights and weekend, I haven't updated the site in quite sometime.  Rocky Mountain Touge Tour 2012 went off with no problems at all, but did not have nearly as many attendees as I had hoped.  I will better advertise next year, and get more people out for a different route throughout the rocky mountains of Colorado.  I am going to try to get some new updates posted over the next few weeks, as some major things are brewing over the winter build season.

Rocky Mountain Touge Tour 2012

We are currently putting together plans for the first ever Rocky Mountain Touge Tour.  The event is to be held August 25, 2012 (Saturday).  It will be a one day event into the Colorado mountains for a day of fun and frolic!  I hope to get a decent amount of cars out so and have a ton of fun.   I will get the word out so that the number of participants will rise.  The event will go along the Arkansas river, and into Salida (departing from Colorado Springs).  If time permits, we will be including Monarch pass.  Hope to see you there!  I am working on a finalized route and included stops/potential photo spots.  As things come together, I will have them posted.  Please contact me if you can make it. I am going to keep an updated list of participants and vehicles.  You can find the route directions and map on the Events page as well as other final details.  If I can get enoughh confirmed participants in the next couple of weeks, I may get t-shirts or window decals made up for the occasion for those willing to pay up!  If you have an idea for a shirt design, email it to me.

Parts From FLP Garage Works

I plan on getting back to making parts for the 5th generation Mirage by later this year.  This will begin with a short run of custom parts for a select few in and around the FLP family of cars.  I am going to fabricate at least two G93 turbo manifolds, two G15 turbo manifolds, some evap delete parts and some chassis components as well.  I am using my car as the primary test subject to build these parts and test some of them, while others will be tested on other vehicles I have access to.  Please feel free to ask questions and place comments on new things as they occur.  When the parts are completed I will post pictures up on the site.  These parts may or may not end up being sold, demand and my time involed will determine that.

In addition to these hard parts, I have begun working on multiple different tunes for the 4G93 Mirage.  These are available upon request.  I can also build a custom tune (for you to flash to your ECU) at no charge.  E-mail me with any requests for a tune for your Mirage.

Tunes are available for N/A, Turbo, and e85 vehicles as well.

New Flash For BBYEVO!

Re-Flashed the Mirage today:  Updates were added for more fuel and RPM.  Added a ton of fuel (e85) above 5000 at WOT.  Seems to run even better, and with some other minor tweaks, no more CEL!  That made my day.  That pesky thing has been on for one thing or another since 2001.  I hope to get some screen shots of the flash maps to add to the site.  I will have all versions of flash upgrades for the Mirage available for those who need it.

Hopefully I will have pics (screenshots) soon.  Also for inquiring minds, the key to flashing the Mirage ECU in some cases is the removal of the wire going to pin 9 of the DLC (light blue).  This wire seems to cause an interference on some cars, not all.  I am doing some research to find out why that may be.

What's New?

It's been a long time since a good update to the site, so here goes.  Eric's car was finally shipped to him back in California.  This was after a fun time had by all while he was out to vist.  His visit included a dyno-day at Die_Hard Motives in Colorado Springs with a small group of friends.  We had three Mirage's, one EG hatch, and an ION Redline.  The Redline was the big surprise of the day with 236whp.  Next was Zeke's Turbo G93 with 178whp, my G93 with 110whp, and Erics Mirage and Zumpy's EG shy of the century mark.  Overall we were pleased.  All numbers were uncorrected at 6500ft.  Eric gained over 20whp from his previous dyno session, showing that all of our efforts did some good!

After all of the fun was over, we packed up Eric for his journey home.

So, what's next?  It has been a whirlwind of miscellaneous projects over the past few months.  We have continued on with Zeke's Mirage, aiming for the next level with the addition of an intercooler and misc other goodies.  My car has recieved a street tune on e85, stepping up the game a notch, we yanked the GZE from Leif's MISTER2, and dropped the Kbomb on yet another hatch!

It seems to always be something around here.  Race season is rapidly aproaching, and with such a short time for preparation, we need to stick with working on our performance goals ahead.

Performance goals ahead for bbyevo include a larger intake manifold, bigger intake, and throttle body, higher compression, and I'm contemplating a 50shot of the giggle gas!  Who knows where I'll go in the long run.  Hope for a new photo shoot inmail. the near future.  Hope to host a meet soon, so anyone interested, drop a line, leave a message, or send an e-mail

New Wheels!

Got the new wheels installed on Eric's Mirage today.  Look great!  The pictures came out horrible, since my Blackberry was acting up and wouldn't focus.  Also the hood was restored and buffed.

It Lives!!!

Got the Mirage fired up and running.  Drove it to the car wash and got her shined up, and dropped her off at the shop in order to have some finishing touches done this week.  Here are a few new pics as of today, enjoy!

Here We Come!!!

As of today the car is almost completed.  I was able to put on some finishing touches under the hood, and fire her up for the first time since June 2011.  She runs, and boy does she run good.  When the car was dropped off, it had a huge stumble off the line (amongst other large downfalls) due to issues caused by Justin Merrill at Merrill Performance in San Diego, CA. , now she seems to get a small amount of wheelspin leaving the line even at partial throttle.  Not all is well though, as the alignment is way off and the car tracks horribly due to that and tire wear, but will be corrected this week by the time Eric comes to get the car.  Tomorrow we (Zeke and I) will wrap up a few more things by taking her out for a good wash and wax, and hopefully drop her at the shop so the exhaust can get repaired this week prior to Eric's arrival.  Pictures to come once she is all cleaned up and ready to rock.

Eric's Mirage is Nearing Completion

This past weekend we kicked things up a notch in order to ensure Eric's Mirage being completed by the ever nearing deadline, February 3, 2012.  Zeke, Leif and I all crammed into the tiny work space in order to get many things installed and repaired all at once.  Leif got both front axles installed, Zeke figued out the fuel system, and I wrapped up the last of the wiring dilemma.  Runnability, here we come.  The goal is to have the Mirage fired up this Saturday, in-order to have plenty of time to work out the bugs before Eric arrives on the third.  Can we make it?  Hell yes!!!

Eric's Mirage Update

Here is a minor update on Eric's Mirage.  As there is a ton of work yet to go, things are just getting started.  First are some pictures of where she began, and some of the wiring damage done to her by merrill performance.

Some of the Wiring Damage

Massive Air leak at the Intake Manifold (Black Soot is Where it was Leaking From No Gasket)

Now, these are just a very few of the items that were done with a lack of care or concern when performed by merrill performance (supposedly a performance shop, but I don't believe it carries a legal license to operate).  I also had a shady intake installed, an oversixed throttle body too large for the manifold (mani. was not properly bored), and the coilovers were installed wrong just to name a few.

Now, the rebuild process.  The first and largest task is the wiring.  In an attempt to perform a "wire-tuck" the harness was all but ruined.  I have rewired the majority of the harness so far, and have approximately another 10-12 hours of wiring to go.  I am yet to repair the fuel injector wiring as well as the feeds to the coil packs, which both of those will be done by this weekend.  Then the next will be re-mounting the fuse box back to it's oe location.  As far as additional wiring goes, the only needed item is wiring in the AFR (narrow band ) gauge.  Here are a few pictures of the updated wiring as of this past weekend.

More to come as it's a fast work in progress.
